| Understanding
the ocean attracts people with many backgrounds and interests.
Weaving their insights together requires mathematical models. Our group
works to understand the processes that affect the marine environment by
a combination of mathematical and computational models that incorporate
multiple physical, chemical and biological processes. Scales of
interest range from the mm scale at which molecular diffusion is
important to the many kilometer scale over which current patterns
dominate. Each scale is important for ecological systems but is
dominated by different physical and chemical phenomena. We work
to understand the processes that are important in them. The topics above and to the left lead to different aspects of our work; the collage of images to their right represent different projects we have worked on. |
